VOEGELE HOUSE ADDITION
|
MONTVILLE, NJ
This addition is attached to a 1960's-era wood and glass house. Four new functional areas are added to the existing house: additions to the kitchen, outdoor deck, and master bedroom at the upper level, and a new office space at the lower level. Beginning at the line of an existing eave beam, four new eave beams are arranged in a fan-shaped array, each individually supported. In elevation, the downhill end of these beams in incrementally lowered from the horizon, creating an increasingly pitched roof as one extends away from the original house. A wooden deck with integral seating extends from the addition, creating an outdoor dining area, access from the entry side of the house, and stairs to the garden below. |
