CONVERSE LOFT
|
BROOKLYN, NY
The loft occupies a portion of a floor in the former Spaulding Rubber Ball Factory in the Fort Green section of Brooklyn. The building features 12 foot ceiling heights, and an exposed system of massive columns and beams that are solid oak. The client required two sleeping lofts, (for himself and occasional guests), and spaces for books and clothes. Modular systems of storage cabinets are clustered in both areas. The cabinets provide book storage from without and clothes storage from within. Each cluster provides a generous surface for loft sleeping. In areas where there are no loft beds, translucent polycarbonate sheets allow light to filter from below. |
