BENCHDOG'S WORKSHOP AND RESIDENCE

ROCKLAND, ME
This project is constructed on a very narrow lot in the coastal city of Rockland, Maine. The structure must serve two purposes; shop on the lowest two levels, and private residence on the topmost level. On the roof of the residence, a “widow’s watch” is provided and is accessible from a large deck facing the ocean. The lot sits between the ocean to the South and Main Street to the North. Access to the site is achieved by cantilevering a portion of the structure of the residence over the space required for vehicular access to the East and West.
